How would you describe your experience with Red Kite?
It’s the most supportive environment I’ve ever been in. I felt from day one that everyone in Red Kite had my back and wanted me to succeed. It has been a very difficult year especially given the circumstances with Covid but I felt supported all the way through and everyone was there to push me on even when I thought maybe I couldn’t right at the end. It was just a great experience overall.
What are you going to do now?
I am going to be an English teacher at Temple Learning Academy. I found out about this vacancy through Red Kite who emailed me to let me know the role was available if I was interested. I received a lot of help from my ECL Matthew who took a lot of time to go through interview prep with me and gave me any other information that I needed to know about the school etc. Anything that I needed he was there for.
Do you have a highlight from your training?
I think building relationships with the kids was a highlight for me. I forgot how funny teenagers could be and some of the things that the students came out with and learning new things from them was really great. It was a real full circle moment for me as I was worried when coming into teaching that I wasn’t right for it and specific moments with the kids made me realise that actually I am.
Is there any advice that you would give to someone considering Red Kite Teacher Training?
Red Kite is the best choice if you’re looking to become a teacher. I know people with other providers who are not nearly as happy as I am or any of my friends from Red Kite. The best thing that I can say about Red Kite is that it’s not just the training experience were you get amazing placements and support but you get to make friends for life through Red Kite. I know I will keep in touch with the ECL’s because I know that they will support me through my whole career. It has been a supportive environment like nothing else and you really should just go for it.
