How has your year with Red Kite been?
I have loved my year with Red Kite. It has felt like a really full year and I have definitely been kept on my toes in a good way. I have felt really supported. Vicki has been great and if I email there is always someone who responds really quickly. Any questions that I had were always answered straight away and there was always a solution. There was just lots of support which is what you need during such a difficult year.
Do you have a highlight from your training year?
I’ve had lots of highlights throughout the year. Any time I finished an assignment or a half term, they were highlights as it meant I was getting there. Then once you get to the end of they year that is a really proud moment and it was such a nice feeling.
How was your experience at your placement schools?
Both schools were fantastic. The mentors were really good. They were both very different from each other, one was a mainstream school and one was a special needs school. I learnt a lot at both of them which was what I needed.
Did you have a good relationship with both mentors?
Yes I had really good relationships with both mentors. I didn’t feel like I was being observed even though I was. They didn’t make me feel nervous or intimidated which was really nice. If I didn’t have as good of a relationship with them as I did I definitely would have been very nervous and probably wouldn’t have done as well I did.
What advice would you offer to someone considering teacher training with Red Kite?
Definitely apply. Red Kite were great and I’ve absolutely loved it, I wouldn’t have gone to any other provider. Be yourself and don’t be nervous, everyone you meet and the people helping you out have also been in the same position before.
