What is the Paid Teaching Internship?

This three-week internship offers an immersive experience in secondary schools, giving you the chance to decide whether teaching is right for you. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers, take part in day-to-day school life, and gain a unique insight into teacher training.

The internship is ideal if you’re curious about teaching and want meaningful, hands-on experience before applying for initial teacher training.

  • Gain a clear understanding of teacher training and routes into teaching

Who can apply?

You can apply if you:
  • Are currently in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year at university
  • Have an A level at grade B or above in your chosen subject
  • Are studying (or have studied) a degree related to your chosen subject (Chemistry, Computing, Languages, Maths, Physics or Design Technology)
  • Are available for the full internship period in June 2026


What happens after the internship?

Upon successful completion of the internship:
  • You are guaranteed an interview for our teacher training course
  • You will benefit from an early-entry application process
  • You’ll be well prepared to make an informed decision about a career
